Local Law Enforcement
Around 50 vehicles have been marked with what seems to be human blood in the Germany's municipality of Hanau near Frankfurt, police confirm law enforcement.
Vehicles, building surfaces and postal boxes were marked, occasionally with Nazi symbols, they reported in a statement.
Officers state they were alerted late on Wednesday, when a individual discovered that a vehicle in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been covered with a red-colored liquid.
The substance had been applied in the pattern of a banned symbol, they reported.
Law enforcement then discovered numerous other marked vehicles and residential walls in the surrounding area.
Nazi symbols are illegal in Germany under regulations prohibiting the visible presentation of Nazi-era symbols.
Law enforcement report early analysis show the fluid was most likely human bodily fluid.
"Currently there is no clue as to where it came from; investigators are presently not informed of any harm in connection with the occurrence," they stated.
Municipal representatives said they were trying "to unravel the case" and have asked to the public for details.
A senior representative stated the vandalism rendered him without words and needed to be solved rapidly.
"This incident affects the core of Hanau and revives the wounds of the right-wing attack half a decade ago," he posted on online, referring to the killing of nine people by a assailant aiming at people of immigrant origin in February 2020.
